Coach's Notes 1.26.2026
Thank you to swimmers, parent helpers, timers, officials, committee heads, awards people and all volunteers. You helped make this weekend’s meet a fantastic event for everyone who attended. I had a few coaches reach out and thank us and our parents for making a memorable meet for their swimmers. They loved the event format and the age group division. They loved the awards. They loved hospitality. They loved the interactions between timers and swimmers. They loved the professionalism of the officials. Joel and his equipment team did an amazing job. I walked into the pool Saturday morning at 9:45 fully expecting to help set up. But everything was already set and music was playing. IMPRESSIVE. Nice job everybody.
Here is some important information you will need to know as we enter the final part of our winter season:
- The final meet of the regular season is the Sea Devil meet. This meet is closed and entries are sent.
- Championship meets: This is a hot topic for coaches across the state. Typically, we would have had all the information and event files for all the championships over a month ago. Event files should be out this Wednesday.
- Bronze Finals: The test file has been removed. Entries wil be created on the event file arrives. Since the start of the season, swimmers were entered in a variety of events based on what their coaches’ thought they were ready for. The goal was always to get a legal time posted or updated. This opens options during championship meets.
- State meets: Those interested in swimming on a relay are free to sign up for state meet. Please read the state meet relay document to understand what is expected should your swimmer be chosen for a relay.
- 10 and U: This meet is the meet that is experiencing a major overhaul. Unfortunately, this has not been formally communicated to coaches. What I know is that the 8 and U and 9/10 will have their own sessions.
- MRC and State meet qualifiers: PLEASE get signed up asap. Once the file arrives, entries will be compiled and turned in. Championship shirts for the MRC and state meets will need to be ordered.
- HS boys returning from HS swimming who have new best times can send me those times and support documentation. What I need is the PDF of the meet results along with a list of your best times and the meet you achieved it at. Send it to me sooner than later. Timing is important. If these arrive later in the season, I may not have an opportunity to get your times updated and you could miss qualifying for a meet.
- Team Banquet: Save THE DATE information has been sent out.
- Pre-team swim clinic will open on Feb 1st. This clinic is for 5.5 to 8 year olds. This is NOT for current Tuna swimmers. This is for NEW swimmers looking to join our team.
- Spring registration will open in March. The training calendar is currently under construction and is subject to change.
GO TUNAs!
